Taiwan appointed a man unrecognized by China as a president, What will happen next?

In Beijing`s view, he is a troublemaker and dangerous separatist. Now he will be the next president of Taiwan. 

China considers Taiwan as part of its territory and China's claim on Taiwan is not new. Rather, Xi Jinping has made this integration a goal. However, this threat has not come to much use in the past years.

Instead, despite China's repeated threats not to vote for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party or DPP, millions of Taiwanese went to the polls in warm and sunny weather on Saturday.

They chose 64-year-old former vice president William Lai Ching to lead Taiwan. 

It is the third consecutive term in power for the DPP, which China views as pro-Taiwanese independence.

Now Mr. How Lai manages Beijing - or how Beijing takes matters - will largely determine his rule or presidency.
